Hello everyone, I am completely new at this blogging business, thus the title, but since everybody is either talking about it or doing it, I decided that I must have a go at it. At age 65, and having been left in the dust by the computer age, I confess that I have been dragged kicking and screaming into this wonderful time.
Another reason that I wanted to try to blog was because I stay so angry all of the time with this president of ours. I had never been a political person until the war was launched on Iraq. It was started with such an obvious lie, and I can't understand why the Congress didn't pick up on it. I remember the first speech he made implicating Iraq as being a participant to 9/11. As soon as I heard it, I turned to my wife and said, "B, he's lying."
In the South, we have something we call fire ants. They are vicious little boogers that build mounds, hundreds of mounds. However, one doesn't see them too often unless one disturbs the mound, then they pour out by the thousands. Stir a mound with a stick and one can be completely covered to one's great detriment unles one runs away. I use this analogy to describe what has happened in Iraq. Left alone, they were a danger to themselves, but once stirred up they have claimed over 4000 American lives plus countless others.
One very effective way to deal with fire ants is to pour gasoline into the mound and set it on fire. However, the USA doesn't have enough "gasoline" to destroy the menace. Nor should we try. My opinion is that we withdraw the troops, leave the civil war in Iraq to determine its own course and destiny, and send George W. Bush to every home that has lost a loved one in the war to explain to the families of the victims why they died in vain.
Well, those are some of my ramblings. Hope that I haven't bored you too badly.
